Ghana flag on Burj Khalifa was a kind gesture to President Akufo-Addo – UAE Government clarifies
Ghana flag on Burj Khalifa: The Government of the United Arab Emirates has refuted the claims by a section of the Ghanaian media that the Government of Ghana paid US$68,000 to have the Ghana flag be displayed on the Burj Khalifa during the opening of the Dubai Expo 2020.
In clarifying this false claim, the representative of the UAE government said, “This is two countries that like working with each other, I can tell you that nothing has been paid, this was a gesture from UAE Government, this is a little thing we can do for a President of a country and it was a surprise for His Excellency, it wasn’t anything about money.”
He also asserted that the transaction records in Dubai are in the public domain, anybody who wants information can go in for any needed record for clarification.

In fact photos from Google search reveal that UAE hoisted almost every country’s flag on Burj Khalifa as a way of welcoming nations to the DUBAI EXPO 2020.
Hopefully, this clarification from the UAE government will put to rest the growing debate on whether Ghana paid anything to get our national flag feature on Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
