President Akufo-Addo Never Disrespected Otiko Djaba; Joyce Bawah Must Focus On Her Core Job!

Sometimes I struggle to regain my equanimity when people who should know better go off-track with the introduction of issues which verge on the ludicrous.

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, instead of sticking to her aide job, has waded into an issue with a viewpoint that is more than shocking.

In an interview with the Graphic, Mahama’s aide said that the reshuffling of her family relation Madam Otiko Afisa-Djaba by President Akufo-Addo was not only a travesty of justice but also a gross level of disrespect to the former Gender Minister.

While she admitted that she is not privy to the reasons which led to the decision of the President to send Otiko to Italy, she believes that the retired political figure paid her dues for the party and her contributions helped in the party winning the 2016 elections.

These reasons, to her, form the basis upon which she believes Otiko was mistreated and disrespected by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Joyce Bawah is being dishonest in her assessment of the issue. Much as I don’t take any delight in reincarnating this issue, Mahama’s aide’s jaundiced opinion of the matter deserves a little bit of attention.

Between the President and the reshuffled appointee, the one who was disrespected was the number one gentleman of the land, not the appointee!

It was announced that her portfolio had been changed, she took to the media space to reject the new appointment. How can the President be accused of having erred in this matter?

Per the pathetic reasons Joyce Bawah gave, it stands to reason that any President or leader before President Akufo-Addo who reshuffled or sacked one appointee or the other disrespected those appointees!

Mahama, we know, reshuffled and sacked some of his team members, did that mean that he disrespected them?

Almost any appointee of any regime played key roles in ensuring that the party came to power. That does not mean that they could not be reshuffled.

Joyce Bawah Mogtari has not said that other appointees of this government who have been made to sit outside have also been disrespected by Mr. President.

Familial ties might have motivated her in coming up with this weird assessment about Madam Otiko. These same people gave Otiko hell when she appeared before the vetting committee for her appointment for comments they said were derogatory to the person of John Mahama, her family member.

At the time she was being grilled left, right and centre, Joyce Bawah Mogtari was too busy to come to her aid. Concentrating on her core function of helping her party’s candidate would help her than commenting on matters she has very little knowledge about.
