[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi is accusing the suspended General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyapong of sponsoring NPP vigilante groups.
According to Chairman Wontumi, Kwabena Agyapong is the man hiding behind the recent rioting by some disgruntled youth of the party in some parts of the country. The NPP Chairman in an interview with Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, disclosed that Mr Agyapong has teamed up with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), and have sponsored certain people to engage in lawlessness in order to make the NPP unpopular.
“Kwabena Agyapong is part of an NDC agenda in which they’ve sponsored lawless youth to riot and create disaffection for Akufo Addo. And that is what we’ve seen in recent times from so-called vigilante groups. But they’ll fail, whatever they have conspire to do will not succeed,” —the NPP man said.
He also insisted that it is their secret plan to distract the NPP government and take the minds of many Ghanaians from the good works of the Akufo Addo administration. The maverick politician in his conversation revealed that Mr Agyapong betrayed the NPP and also had compromising association with the NDC ahead of the 2016 general elections.
Meanwhile, Kwabena Agyapong has threatened legal action and is demanding an apology from Chairman Wontumi for what he claims to be his defamatory comments against his reputation.
But the NPP Chairman says the suspended General Secretary should forget about an apology and rather go to court since he is ready to meet him.
