The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, will deliver the keynote address at the 39th anniversary of the 31st December Revolution coming off in Accra on Thursday.
This year’s celebration which will take place at the Osekan Park on the Atta Mills High Street is being organized in honour of late Jerry John Rawlings.
A statement signed by the Central Planning Committee of the 31st December Anniversary said the event will be marked with a parade, and wreath-laying.
The organizing committee is inviting cadres, sympathizers of the revolution and members of the public to the commemoration which will commence at 8.30 am on Thursday.
The 31st December 1981 revolution ushered in a period of economic and political transformation that culminated in the re-establishment of lasting constitutional rule in 1992.
The revolution also gave birth to the National Democratic Congress which won elections in 1992 and 1996 under the leadership of Rawlings.

39TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE 31ST DECEMBER 1981 REVOLUTION
The Central Planning Committee of the 31st December Anniversary and the Office of former President Jerry John Rawlings, in partnership with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will host the commemoration of the 39th Anniversary of the 31st December Revolution on Thursday December 31 at the Osekan Park on the Atta Mills High Street.
Organised in honour of the late Founder of NDC, former President of the Republic of Ghana and leader of the Revolution, the ceremony will commence at 8.30am.
