Charlotte Osei turns TV host on GHOne TV

Charlotte Osei turns TV host: Charlotte Osei, the former chair of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, has taken up a new challenge as a business television show host on the Accra-based GHOne TV.

Addressing her audience immediately after the launch of the programme, Business Compass, Mrs. Osei said the programme will seek to create a platform to groom budding entrepreneurs and turn them into leaders growing their business.

“We have been engaging a lot of young entrepreneurs on their career and business issues and as we engaged them we realized more and more [that] young entrepreneurs were passionate about their business and were very ambitious, but there was a knowledge gap,” she said.

Osei said many of the entrepreneurs think the problem is capital but it’s not really capital: sometimes it’s just confidence, and sometimes it’s the strategy to allow the business owner to do things differently.

Engaging

“So I have been engaging with them on one on one, quietly, but eventually somebody at GHOne has bullied me into bringing this on TV so I am here on duress but it is for a good purpose,” she added jokingly.

“If you have a passion and want to turn into a profit, you have a side hussle, you want improve your business this is where you come to and like a GPS we will guide you,” she said.

The former EC boss madam, who has a background in corporate law, will be joined by a group of friends of varying expertise to offer advice to young entrepreneurs. A business coach will also offere guidance on the programme, which will air every week on GhOne TV.

Osei was sacked from the top job at the EC in June 2018, along with two of her deputies. The trio’s dismissal followed recommendations from a committee that investigated corruption and misconduct allegations against them after a group of EC workers petitioned the president and the then Chief Justice to impeach her.
