The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has served notice to the National Labour Commission that it will embark on a nationwide strike on March 3, 2020, to demand the full implementation of an MOU on interim premium for its members.
The MoU signed between CLOGSAG and government in 2016 was to give a 15% interim premium payable to CLOGSAG members with effect from January 1, 2017.
CLOGSAG was represented by its executives while the government was represented by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, Ministry of Finance and Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
A statement issued in Accra signed by the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, Isaac Bampoe Addo, indicated that since the signing of the agreement to date members have only received 10% of the interim premium.
He said they can no longer bear the frustration and demotivation that have characterized what he describes as inequality adding that members of CLOGSAG deserve better.
The letter also gave a directive to members to wear red bands and fly red flags at vantage points to express their grievances to the government.
