Ghanaians won’t fall for your promises anymore – Sekou Nkrumah teases John Mahama

Sekou Nkrumah teases John Mahama: Sekou Nkrumah, son of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has advised former President Mahama to admit he failed Ghanaians in his first term in office if he is to have any chance of getting the public to follow his recent attempts to woo them with his policies in a bid to regain power in 2020, ABC News can report.

Sekou Nkrumah suggests the underwhelming performance of John Dramani during his first term in office, which was characterised by gross mismanagement of the economy and resources and gave Ghanaians very little to be joyous about, is enough basis for Ghanaians to reject his message for a second term.

The Convention People’s Party member noted that National Democratic Congress squandered a glorious opportunity to govern the people of Ghana after winning power in 2008, particularly, during the Mahama era when he presided over an incompetent and corrupt government.

“Any promise by Mahama will fall on deaf ears! He should rather be pleading for forgiveness from Ghanaians, and in the process accept that he led an incompetent, corrupt government,” Sekou Nkrumah is reported to have said.

The National Democratic Congress overwhelmingly voted John Mahama flagbearer to lead them to the next polls after a reelection bid in 2016 ended with disastrous outcome.

Many within the party and some political analysts advised the party to restructure and present a new face to lead them to improve their image and acceptability but the party decided to stick with the former President, who has only a four-year mandate to fulfill his policies should he be given a second term.

This, according to Sekou Nkrumah, is an opportunity missed by the opposition NDC to reorganise themselves and correct their shortcomings.

He averred that the mere fact the NDC decided to re-present Mahama is an indication that they haven’t learnt any lessons from the last election defeat.

“I find it very difficult to appreciate the efforts of the Mahama campaign! My problem with the NDC is that they had the opportunity to do good for Ghana when they had the people’s mandate in 2008, yet NDC blew away that privilege.

“Instead of the party going through an internal clean house and restructuring, they rather opted for a lazy, corrupt approach were they basically made no changes going forward,” he added.

He was convinced that just as Ghanaians kept their fate in the NPP to redeem the economy and country from the levels of corruption and ineptitude witnessed under Mahama, there is little doubt about the verdict of 2020.

Seko Nkrumah divulged, “If Ghanaians gave them 4 more years after a messy first term, what makes them think the same Ghanaians will not also tolerate another 4 years of NPP?”

On Monday, Former President Mahama held a Facebook Live session to interact with the public on issues of national concern and state some of his policies he intends to implement should he come back to power in 2021.
