I was a ‘wee’ smoker before I featured in Beasts of No Nation movie – Strika tells his sad story
I was a ‘wee’ smoker: Strika of ‘Beasts of No Nation’ fame has revealed that even before being cast in the movie, he was a weed smoker.
According to the young actor, he has been engaged in smoking since he was quite young, before the age of 14.
Strika, speaking with Abraham Offei of Glovantis Multimedia, said he had the habit before he was discovered for the movie but hid it very well.
“For me, I began smoking at a very young age, like before 14….before I was discovered, no one knew that I was into that [marijuana], including my scouts, I hid it from them till I was caught,” he said.
He also added that he was enrolled in a Montessori school in Cape Coast after he started work on the movie but once again his bad smoking habit took over his life.
“I did not stop when I got the admission to school there, I couldn’t, I was still doing it every student in the school knew that I was doing it and unfortunately my cover blew one day,” he revealed.
Strika said he was taken through counseling after he was caught.
His confessions seem to explain why he was spotted walking on the streets and begging sometime ago after being a star in such a huge movie.
It seems this bad habit is truly negatively affecting Strika’s future. Both he and Attah where breakout stars in Beasts but one is now in Hollywood whilst he’s stuck here with little future prospects.
