2020 elections worse among all elections - Mahama to Jean Mensa

You know you rigged the election for NPP; 2020 elections worse among all elections – Mahama to Jean Mensa

The former one-term President of Ghana and the 2020 flagbearer of the opposition NDC party, John Dramani Mahama, has described the 2020 general elections as one of the worst in the history of Ghana’s democracy.

The EC chairperson Jean Mensa on Wednesday told the ECOWAS Parliament at Winneba that the polls were rather “historic” saying it has become a case study for most advanced democracies in the world.

However, speaking in an interview as part of his “thank you” tour in the Western Region, Mr. Mahama said: “2020 general election is one of the worst elections organized since 1992.”

“Tell me which election in Ghana was ballot papers printed yet one million ballot papers were found elsewhere… We didn’t witness this under Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan. She [Jean Mensa] knew there was ballot stuffing.”

On the election-related violence that claimed some lives, Mrs. Jean Meansa told the commission of inquiry that the EC cannot be blamed because it happened outside its polling stations.

“Sadly, seven lives were lost and though this did not occur at our polling station nor arise as misconduct on our part, one life lost is one too many. We are confident that our security agencies will share their investigations and recommendations for future learnings,” she said.

On his part, the 2020 presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said: “I have taken part in elections since 1992 as an MP. I haven’t seen a situation where soldiers were holding guns at collation centers. We normally have police, immigration officers, etc there.”

“Eight people have died, which election did we have in Ghana that eight people perished?”, he quizzed.
