11 inmates at Ashaiman police station test positive for Coronavirus

11 inmates at Ashaiman police station test positive for Coronavirus: It has been reported that eleven cell inmates at the Ashaiman police station have tested positive for coronavirus.

The Tema Regional Police Commander, DCOP Edward Johnson Akrofi-Oyirifi, confirmed on Accra-based Class FM.

He said the inmates have been isolated adding that the police started treating them.

According to him, “They are receiving treatment…For them to be sent to the isolation centre, they have to go to court to move the motion so that they will be sent there.

“The treatment has been started with them at the cells.”

However, Ghana’s coronavirus case count has risen to 7,303 after 186 new cases were added to the tally on Wednesday night.

An update on the Ghana Health Service website indicates that 2,412 persons have recovered from the illness.

The death toll remains 34.

SAD! 2 policemen have tested positive for coronavirus in Upper East

Two 2 policemen have tested positive for the novel coronavirus and are currently undergoing treatment.

The two were exposed to patients of the virus in separate instances while on official duties.

According to police sources, one of the policemen who was on escort duties to the Upper East Region was exposed to the patient and the other who was also returning to his duty post in the same region after holidays faced the same fate.

Both according to our sources were identified through contact tracing and showed mild signs and symptoms and have since been put on medication.

This comes a few days after a convicted prisoner and five (5) out of Twenty-Seven (27) persons who were arrested by the Adenta police for violating the restriction order have tested positive for the virus.
