AIRBUS SCANDAL: Interpol issues arrest warrant for John Mahama’s brother, Adam Mahama
Interpol issues arrest warrant for John Mahama’s brother Adam Mahama: An arrest warrant by the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) for John Mahama’s brother Samuel Adam Forster, also known as Samuel Adam Mahama for him to face the law following his alleged role in the Airbus bribery scandal has been issued
Mr. Adam Mahama, a younger brother of former President Mahama, is being pursued allegedly handing over hefty bribes so as to get public officials of Ghana to purchase aircraft made by European aerospace giant, Airbus.
Mr. Adam Mahama is alleged to have worked in concert with others to set up an entity ostensibly to funnel mouthwatering bribes to government officials so that Airbus could sell aircraft to Ghana.
Airbus paid some £3 billion in a deferred prosecution agreement for their role in recruiting entities to dole out juicy bribes to government officials so as to secure contracts in some five countries including Ghana.
In the Court documents, the people who funneled the bribes are described as intermediaries. Mr. Adam Mahama seems to fit the description of intermediary five.
He alleged facilitated the payment of bribes to influential government officials. Of particular interest is government official 1, who the governing NPP believes is former President John Mahama, Adam Mahama’s brother.
The arrest warrant comes at a time the controversy on the matter in Ghana seems to have died down.
The issuance of this warrant is bound to resurrect discussions on the scandal as the political temperature rises due to the upcoming general elections in December this year.
