This New Statue of Ebony Will Mess Your Day Up!

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]here is a trending photo of a statue believed to have been made to eulogize late award-winning dance-hall act, Ebony Reigns, known in real life as Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng. The statue appeared not to have replicated the actual image of the dance-hall act and it has generated a stir on social media.

The sculptor of the work is still not known but from all indications, people are calling for his or her head since they feel a much better representation of the musician could have been created.

Many people who have eulogized the “Poison” song maker have attracted some praise for their thoughtfulness but the sculptor of the late musician has attracted nothing but criticism.

Both the former and current presidents of Ghana have commiserated with the bereaved family of the late musician. Some female artistes also came together to record a song in memory of the 21-year-old dance-hall act.

Wanlove The Kubulor also named his daughter after the musician as a way of preserving the dancehall act’s legacy. Many well-meaning Ghanaians trooped to the Martin De Porres School in Dansoman, a suburb of Accra, to honor the singer during the One Week Memorial held by her family members.

It has been revealed that Ebony Reigns would be buried on March 17 with the burial service taking place at the Independence Square in Accra. Ebony died in a gory accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi road while returning to Accra from Sunyani.

Her childhood friend and PA, Franky Kuri and one air force official, Francis Atsu Vondee, who posed as a bodyguard also died in the car crash.
