Dzifa Attivor is dead

Madam Dzifa Aku Attivor, former Minister of Transport during John Mahama’s tenure died in the early hours of Tuesday, November 16, 2021, after a short illness, family sources confirmed.

Late President Prof. John Evans Attah Mills first appointed her into public office as a Deputy Minister of Transport in his government.

After former president John Dramani Mahama took the reins in 2012, he promoted Madam Attivor by naming her the Minister of Transport in his government.

She held this position until 2015 when she resigned due to the infamous bus branding saga.

She was accused of financial impropriety in the award of a GH¢3.6 million contract to Smarttys Production in the re-branding of 116 Metro Mass Transit buses that year.

Despite resigning her position, she had expressed fears of being jailed if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came to power.

Madam Attivor later joined the chairmanship race of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region.

She, however, lost the elections in 2018 to incumbent John Kudzo Gyapong.

She had a decade earlier contested the Ho West Parliamentary Primaries of the NDC but lost to Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra.
