Fella Makafui reacts to her exit from YOLO season 5
Season 5 of the Ghanaian popular youth television series, YOLO, has been outdoored with one of its major characters ‘Serwaa’ [Fella Makafui] absent in the new season.
The new Season 5 of YOLO was premiered about a month ago and is now being aired on TV and on Youtube.
Some new characters have been introduced and some old ones have been dropped.
One of the characters not featuring in Season 5 is ‘Serwaa’ [Fella Makafui], who played the role of a street hawker.
Some suggestions are that she has outgrown the character and her current lifestyle outside of television does not fit the kind of lessons the producers may want to portray.
Her musician boyfriend, Medikal however disagree and took to social media to voice out his frustration at the producers for leaving her out of the new series.
According to Medikal, people watch the show because of Serwaa and Drogba.
Reacting to Medikal’s suggestions on Monday, Fella Makafui said the comment over her omission from the new season of YOLO should not be misconstrued.
According to her, Medikal was not angry but was only expressing his love and support just like any other fan.
“I don’t think he was angry. He is just talking like any random person who supports my brand. I see a lot of people coming under my posts and sending me DM [direct message] like if you [Fella Makafui] is not part of YOLO, we are not watching again,” she said.
In a radio interview on Accra based Hitz FM on Monday, the actress stressed that she would have done the same thing if she was in Medikal’s position.
“I don’t see anything wrong with what he did. He was just talking as a normal person will do. He has to fight for his girlfriend. I would have done the same thing though. For instance, if VGMA doesn’t want to nominate him again, I will say something, I have to support him too,” she said.
Fella Makafui noted that she has to move on and give other people the chance to also shine, saying, “In life you get to a certain stage, you have to move on because it is not going to be YOLO, YOLO. Let me just say YOLO has already given me the platform I needed or wanted… I mean it’s okay to give other people the chance to also blow. I can’t be selfish. People will even get tired of me.”
The entrepreneur cum actress, however, added that, though she is not part of the season five of YOLO, she is doing something else and has nothing against her manager.
“My manager called me that evening and we spoke about it, I don’t have any issue with him, we are doing something else… we are actually coming out with a whole different vibe,” she said.
