Gay Office At Kwabenya Finally Shut Down by National Security

The Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) office located at Kwabenya in Accra has been shut down following public outcry against the practice in the country.

The Kwabenya Traditional Council has been calling on the government to close down the office which they said was located at Ashongman.

Public Relations Officer of the Traditional Council, who doubles as the Kwabenya Musuku Chief, Nii Mensah Dza Nyomo, made this known on Adom FM.

According to him, they had a tip-off about a meeting the group held last Wednesday and had to take action because that day was sacred for the community which makes their meeting an abomination on the land.

He noted the Traditional Council will not accept that development since their action is against the laws of the country, adding that they won’t allow such an abomination to go on in their vicinity.

“We won’t sit down for Kwabenya to gain a bad name that the LGBT meeting grounds or office is located at Kwabenya Ashongman. No way. We don’t need them here, they should just leave here because it is an abomination,” he warned.

In reaction to this request, GhanaNewsPage.Com gathers that the office has been shut down by the police.

Nana Yaw Addai was said to have fraudulently forged documents for a piece of land he sold twice

A 66-year-old stool attendant (Ahenkwaa) at the Manyhia palace in Kumasi, has been remanded into prison custody by the Nkawie Circuit for fraudulent land deals.

Nana Yaw Addai was said to have fraudulently forged documents and sold a piece of land at Denkyemmuoso in the Atwima-Kwanwoma District.

He pleaded not guilty and would reappear before the court presided by Mr. Michael Johnson Abbey on April 28, this year.

Detective Inspector Francis Opoku of the Ghana Police Service told the court that the complainant was a medical practitioner at the Suntreso Government Hospital in Kumasi.

He said in 2008, the complainant acquired a building plot numbered 25 at Denkyemmuoso Extension from Nana Kwadwo Agyeibi II and other principal members of the stool.

Inspector Opoku said the complainant molded about 3000 blocks to start building but met one Joseph Evans Donkor on the plot who claimed to have also bought the same piece of land from the accused person at a cost of GHC80,000.00.

The prosecution said a report was made to the Abuakwa police who arrested the accused and in his caution statement admitted the offence and was charged before the court.

Lack Of Funds Cause Of Recent Dumsor - John Jinapor claims

Lack Of Funds Cause Of Recent Dumsor: Former Deputy Minister of Energy, John Jinapor has disclosed that the challenge with the energy sector has to do with the congestion in the transmission lines and not the generation of electric power.

According to him, the Akufo-Addo government for more than two years has not carried out any maintenance activities and upgraded the transmission system of GRIDCo due to lack of money.

Speaking on Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Abia’ Morning Show, the lawmaker for Yapei/Kusawgu Constituency maintained that the current power outage is a result of the high tensions from GRIDCo being congested for over a period of time due to the fact that there are not enough funds to upgrade the system and do maintenance.

“But the truth of the matter in this power outage is that the high tension from the GRID is congested; that is the fact and it has been congested for over a period of time and that is why from time to time, GRIDCo should have money to upgrade their system and do maintenance so that we don’t experience such a situation in the country,” he asserted.

He, however, blamed President Akufo-Addo for the lack of money for GRIDCo to carry out its maintenance policy and upgrading as the President went to Parliament to announce the reduction of electricity tariffs to score political points at the detriment of the utility companies.

“When President Akufo-Addo went to Parliament to say that he has reduced electricity tariffs, the GRIDCo CEO was not happy with the President on that decision because the company needs money to maintain the high tension. The NPP scored political points out of the reduction in the electricity tariffs and Ghanaians were happy but the downside is that the utility companies need money to upgrade their systems,” he indicated.

“Transmission lines do not get congested overnight because the demand will continue to increase and so it has gotten to a point where the transmission lines cannot carry the load again. The only way it will be able to carry the load is to reduce the load on the transmission and if that happens, some people will experience lights-out and that is what they don’t want to do, and so we are experiencing low and high voltage due to the pressure on the transmission lines,” he explained.
