How to register your business online in Ghana

How to register your business online in Ghana: The digital exploits of Ghana have removed many manual configurations that make it difficult for once to get some services done. Since the assumption of this government in 2016, there have been several digital transformation attempts to remove barriers that manual configurations of service delivery present.

One of the transformation agendas is how businesses are registered in Ghana from the creation of TIN to the filing of business names at the registrar general’s office.

This has resulted in the activation of online application portals on the websites of the Registrar General’s Department and that of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) where one needs to apply for his/her TIN which is a mandatory requirement for business registration in Ghana.

To register your business via Registrar General’s online portal, follow the guidelines below;

  1. Go to https://rgd.gov.gh/ and click on the blinking REGISTRATION BUTTON to open the login/registration portal

2. If you have registered already to use the portal, proceed to enter your User ID which may your TIN or a standard username. If you have not registered to use the portal, click on the link below ‘New User Sign up here using:’

3. If you are new to the portal, you have to register first in order to gain access to your username and password. Once you click on the link under the ‘New User Sign up here using: a registration form will open for you to fill in your personal details.

4. Click on Register to submit your registration details. An email with a confirmation link with the details of your login credentials will be sent to your email address.

Now proceed to log in on the Registrar General’s e-platform with your given login credentials. Once logged in, you will be prompted to link your TIN after selecting ‘Entity Registration’ from your account dashboard.

5. Once at the registration page, click on Entity Registration and click on create new just as seen in the screenshot below;

6. Select the entity type and enter the name of your business to be registered.

7.  You will be moved to s 3-Step form page which comprises the Business and its Owner’s profile details, Business Address, and Payment. At the Business Owner’s profile step, you will be required to link your TIN with the business.

8. Enter your TIN and click add to allow the system to populate your TIN details and link it with the business being registered.

Note that the GRA TINs are being replaced with Ghana Card ID numbers. If you haven’t linked your GRA TIN with your Ghana Card ID, CLICK HERE TO LINK IT

9. Once your TIN is validated and linked with your new business name, you can now proceed to fill all the forms under the three steps.

Remember to have your Ghana Post GPS codes for your business location and personal residential address at hand as they will be required in the forms.

10. After completing the forms with no input errors, click submit.

11. A payment invoice with the registration fee details will pop up. You will have the option to pay online through the www.ghana.gov.gh portal (you must create an account in order to use this platform) or pay at any of the RGD’s partner banks.

12. Based on the notification option selected, you will receive notifications from payment confirmation till the issuance of the business certificate.
