Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has revealed that he voted for Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the 2016 polls but will not vote if elections were held today.

According to him, he is so disappointed in both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) reiterating that if elections were held today, he would not take part.

Speaking on Apple 68 Radio in Virginia, USA, on President Akufo-Addo’s recent media encounter, Mr Azure revealed that even though he used to be someone who encouraged people to vote, he has lost faith in both former President Mahama and President Akufo-Addo.

“Generally I am disappointed in the two main contenders…if elections were held today, I will not be persuaded to vote for this or that person… If as time goes on, my mind changes (I shall vote). But I don’t think I will vote if elections were held today. In 2012, I voted for Mahama and in 2016 I voted for Akufo-Addo. But I am so disappointed with what I am seeing in this country, “he said in the interview.

On the President’s media encounter, he expressed satisfaction with the programme while indicating that it could be improved with time.

Manasseh Azure Awuni, who has undertaken investigations on corruption both under former President John Mahama and President Akufo-Addo, insists that the status quo with regards to the fight against corruption has not improved since corruption still persists.
