Former President John Dramani Mahama has said, he will complete all the 200 community day school his administration started before exiting power if he is re-elected in 2020 general elections.

Speaking at the launch of the 27th Annual Residential Delegates Congress of the Ghana Union of Technical Students (GNUTS) in Kumasi, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who is leading the NDC to the 2020 elections said, the unplanned Free SHS education policy initiated by the NPP is not serving its intended purpose following challenges confronting the programme.

“We will, therefore, continue our work to improve the performance of public schools at both basic and secondary levels. We resume our programme to fast truck educational infrastructure at the secondary level to absorb the increasing number occasioned by the implementation of the free SHS programme’’ Mr. Mahama said.

The former president added, “We will complete all the remaining 200 community day schools we began and build additional ones at the high-density urban communities including the Zongos and the underserved areas’’ he stressed.

The NDC’s flagbearer believes the move will bring Senior high school education to the doorstep of people particularly the Zongo communities among others.

Mr. Mahama who has now embraced the free education as a policy which has come to stay revealed, the next NDC government will review the program implementation structure.

“In the first three months of my coming to office, we will hold a stakeholder consultation with Parents, Teachers, and educational experts to identify and eliminated all the bottomless that are affecting the effective implementation of the free SHS programme’’ he assured.
