Former Lynx Entertainment signee, Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, known in showbiz as MzVee has disclosed that her relationship with her ex-boyfriend ended due to depression.

The ‘sing my name’ hitmaker opened up last week about her 2-year depression which shocked many in the entertainment industry.

Many of her fans were worried about her long silence after parting ways with her first record label but MzVee told TV3 that she needed to take some time off the music scene for rejuvenation.

Speaking on a media tour in promotion of her new song ‘Sheriff’, MzVee disclosed that the phase she found herself did not only destroy her working relationship but damaged what she had with her boyfriend also.

‘I was, I lied about it for some time and then we broke up, I guess it was because of the lies. God doesn’t like lies. But I’m single now. It was one of the relationships I destroyed just because I was in a bad place. I let go of him too,’ she told Accra-based Hitz Fm.

She, however, admitted that her partner did his best to help her through her depressive stage but things just couldn’t work out as intended, adding that she’s ‘very very cool’ with him currently.

After opening up on the mental health problem, many sympathized with the ‘Daavi’ singer while others insisted she is exaggerating her issue.

Responding to such criticisms, MzVee said she can’t lie about something like this but admitted she was unable to speak up for two years because she feared people would not believe her.

‘I didn’t understand what I was going through and I was actually scared to come out to say this because I knew there will be very ignorant people who will sit behind their phones and say she’s exaggerating. They are the reason why I was scared to come out but my mum said Vera, just say it, what exactly were you going to tell people to explain why you were away, so I did’ she stated.
