JA Ghana awards students at its National Business Pitch Competition Awards Ceremony
Accra, Ghana – September 1, 2023
The vibrant energy of young minds filled the air at the Fiesta Royale Hotel in Accra as Junior Achievement Ghana (JA Ghana) celebrated the outstanding achievements of students from various senior high schools at the National Business Pitch Competition Awards ceremony. This momentous event, held on September 1st, 2023, marked a significant milestone in recognizing and nurturing the innovative potential of Ghana’s youth.
The National Business Pitch Competition Awards ceremony shone a spotlight on the remarkable creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of students from senior high schools across the nation. These young visionaries were tasked with providing prototypic solutions to a range of pressing social issues, showcasing their dedication to making a positive impact on their communities.
The event witnessed fierce competition, and the results were nothing short of impressive. Three schools emerged as the shining stars of the evening:
- St. Francis of Asisi Girls’ SHS claimed the title of the 2nd runner-up, showcasing their commitment to innovation and excellence.
- O’Reilly SHS secured the 1st runner-up position, demonstrating their dedication to creating innovative solutions.
- Adonten SHS emerged as the grand winner of the National Business Pitch Awards, earning the coveted top spot for their outstanding prototype.
The winners didn’t just receive applause and accolades; they were also rewarded handsomely for their exceptional efforts. Each school received generous cash prizes to support their educational and entrepreneurial endeavors. Adonten SHS, the grand winner, was awarded GHC15,000, while O’Reilly SHS, the 1st runner-up, received GHC10,000, and St. Francis Asisi SHS, the 2nd runner-up, received GHC5,000.
But the rewards didn’t stop there. The winning schools also received a range of valuable items, including split air-conditioners, Bluetooth headsets, and various learning materials. These prizes not only recognize their achievements but also provide them with the tools they need to continue their educational journeys and innovative pursuits.
The National Business Pitch Competition is an initiative born out of collaboration. JA Ghana partnered with Ghana Education Service, Boeing, Academic City University College, and PMIEF to run this competition in senior high schools across Ghana. Together, they harnessed the untapped innovative potential of young students, providing them with a platform to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills.
The National Business Pitch Competition Awards ceremony was honored to have the presence of the Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour. His words of encouragement and congratulations resonated with the students, inspiring them to continue their hard work and team spirit. His message was clear: these young minds have the potential to become great inventors, contributing to the betterment of Ghana.
As we celebrate the achievements of these remarkable students, we look forward to a future where their innovative solutions have a lasting and positive impact on society. The National Business Pitch Awards not only recognized their efforts but also encouraged them to dream big, create boldly, and continue on their paths as the innovators of tomorrow.
