Nana Addo has a good heart, we are praying that God touches him to step down – NDC’s Anita DeSoso

A former First National Vice-chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita De Sooso has described President Akufo-Addo as a man with a good heart and one who listens to the concerns of his people.

Anita De Sooso’s comments are premised on what she describes as President Akufo-Addo’s love for Ghana by choosing not to go for a review of a Supreme Court ruling which upheld the EC’s declaration of John Mahama as the duly elected president of the republic in 2012.

She says the mere fact that the President, then Candidate Akufo-Addo, had the choice to challenge the verdict but decided not to and rather listen to the group of chiefs who advised him is an indication of the great character he possesses.

“In 2012 he said he wasn’t going to go for review in their party office. He could have gone but he insisted he wouldn’t go. I was with Otiko Djaba when he told me at their party office, that Anita, I won’t go for this review. So when I realized he really didn’t go just as he told me, then I realised Nana Addo has a good heart. Even when the chiefs spoke to him, he said he has left it everything behind,” she said on Accra based Power FM.

Ms De Sooso maintains that President Akufo-Addo may not be as desperate to retain power as many opposition members may want the populace to believe. She however says persons close to the President may be the ones pushing him to ‘go for it’.

“Akufo-Addo is not being desperate, but if you are a leader, sometimes your followers can put pressure on you to do certain things you wouldn’t have done naturally. What at all is the President looking for at his age that he won’t stop being President after his first term, it may be because some people around him are pushing him to go for it, that’s how I see it.
