Sports betting has made broke people billionaires - Kinaata replies Dag Heward

Popular Ghanaian clergyman, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills recently admonished Ghanaian youths to desist from sports betting if they want to be prosperous in the future.

Kofi Kinaata, multiple awards winning artiste and an ambassador for sports betting company, Betway has responded to Bishop Dag Heward-Mills in an exclusive interview with Amansan Krakye monitored by MyNwsGh.com.

Martin King Arthur aka Kofi Kinaata was asked on Kastle Drive via Kastle FM what he makes of the controversial assertion by the popular clergyman concerning sports betting.

He remarked “Amansan Krakye by the time we finish this interview, I’m very sure that you’d have ended up giving me problems. Proverbially it is said that what the elderly sees whilst sitting, the young cannot see even if they’re standing.

“So probably it depends on what he has seen that’s why he’s advising the youth to stay away from sports betting because he’s been in this world for a long time. However, it is two sided when it comes to sports betting,” he added.

“There are some people who were also wallowing in abject poverty but through staking a sports bet they won and have suddenly became billionaires. So does it mean their riches from sports betting is a misfortune,” Kofi Kinaata told the host.

He concluded on Kastle FM “There are some people who get their daily wage from betting. So the same betting that he claims can make people poor has also made some people filthy rich.”

Nana Addo cuts sod for the construction of $30 million Pan African Heritage World Museum

Construction of $30 million Pan African Heritage World Museum: President of the Republic of Ghana H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo has led a sod-cutting ceremony held in Accra for the construction of The Pan African Heritage World museum, which is said to be the biggest in Africa.

The Pan African Heritage World Museum, when completed, according to the President, will provide a resting place for all the looted artifacts housed in foreign museums in Europe and elsewhere.

“The museum is certainly an innovative pan-Africanism project and the government is accordingly supporting its development. The precise state of the support government will provide is the subject of ongoing discussions between the executive council and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and the results will be fully publicized.”

“I am glad that when completed, this project will provide education in the museum’s gallery for visitors to learn more about the history, cultures, indigenous ideals of our ancestors who demonstrated their resolve to protect our environment,” the President said.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, Akufo-Addo urged locals in the area not to be an impediment to the construction of the museum.

“I urge you, residents of the area and those within this immediate catchment area to be mindful of the fact that you will be the ultimate beneficiaries of this project, so please, do not put any impediments in the way of investors or contractors. There should be a cordial relationship among you,” he added.

The museum, which will be the biggest in Africa, was the idea of Kojo Yankah, past President of the Pan-African Historical Theatre Festival (PANAFEST) and founder of the African University College of Communications.

The design of the Museum is shaped as a Horn which is synonymous with a trumpet which is a musical instrument often used in religious ceremonies.

It is expected to be completed in July 2023.
