[dropcap]M[/dropcap]embers of Parliament (MPs) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are demanding for stiffer punishment for suspended members of the party, suggesting a ban of between eight to 10 years.
The NPP held its first national delegates congress over the weekend in Cape Coast to discuss the way forward for the party.

One of the proposals put forward was a call from the party’s MPs to have suspended members banned from all party activities for a maximum 10 year period.

This was followed by another proposal to have the party’s constitution amended, with Articles 6 and 11 in mind.
If the amendment of the aforementioned articles is done, then Parliamentary candidates will now have the right to appoint constituency executives of the party.

It will also mean that the Parliamentary candidates hold the power to appoint all polling executives of their constituencies.

The NPP, in recent times, has suspended a number of its ranking members, and if the above proposals are accepted, it would mean that they will not be returning to the party anytime soon.
