Trust Hospital Limited and Labadi Beach Hotel present 2017 dividend to SSNIT

The Trust Hospital Limited: The managements of two (2) Investee Companies of SSNIT, the Trust Hospital Limited (THL) and the Labadi Beach Hotel, have presented cheques totaling GH¢1,579,979.00as dividend for year 2017 to the Management of the Trust at a ceremony at Pension House in Accra.

The Trust Hospital Limited, owned by SSNIT as the sole shareholder, presented a cheque for GH¢579,979.00 while the Labadi Beach Hotel gave GH¢ 1,000,000.00.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of the Trust Hospital Limited, the Acting General Manager/Medical, Dr Francis Ahiaku, said since the company was incorporated in November 2010, it had spent the past few years of existence trying to expand facilities and services in order to position itself strategically in terms of competition in the industry.

Dr Ahiaku stated that in 2017 the company was able to make a net profit after tax of GH¢2,319,916.00 (Two Million, Three Hundred and Nineteen, Nine Hundred and Sixteen Ghana Cedis) for which the GH579,979.00 represented 25 per cent of the total amount.

Dr Ahiaku expressed the gratitude of the Management of THL to SSNIT and successive boards of the company for their support and guidance which has brought the company this far. He added that it was the vision of the company to establish and operate world class hospitals and clinics within the West African Sub-region, making those facilities a one-stop-shop for excellent healthcare services.

Labadi Beach Hotel

The Head of Sales and Marketing, Mr David Eduaful, presented the cheque on behalf of Labadi Beach hotel and appealed to Ghanaians to patronise the services of the hotel for the facility to realise great returns from its operations. He also stated that the hotel had maintained its 5-star status for a long time. He stressed that it was an achievement for the hotel to present dividends every year to the Trust as it was wholly owned by SSNIT.

Speaking after receiving the cheques, from both companies, the Director-General of SSNIT, Dr John Ofori-Tenkorang thanked both the Boards and Managements of the Trust Hospital Limited and Labadi Beach Hotel for their hard work and commitment they demonstrated in the past year and half.

He commended the board and management of SSNIT for the foresight and presence of mind to overhaul the boards of the SSNIT subsidiaries.

Dr Ofori-Tenkorang stressed that the overhauling was done to strengthen the boards, making available the relevant expertise to improve the overall corporate governance in those organisations.

TheDGalso revealed that the Trust’s investment portfolio registered a 5.77 %real return in 2017 as against -5.93 %in 2016 adding that the performance was above the external actuarial target of 3.25%.

He urged other investee companies to emulate the example of the two companies by managing their investments well to yield profit for the stakeholders
