VIDEO: See How ‘Papa J’ Snubbed Mahama At The Independence Square When They Came Face To Face In Shaking Hands

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]here has always been reports of Mr Rawlings not being pleased with Mr Mahama and his appointees and he at times publicly criticised them over that leading to a sort of patchy relationship between them.

Former President Mahama’s recent appearance at the 35th anniversary celebration of the 31st December Revolution, had many members of National Democratic Congress (NDC) excited as they thought the two most important people in the party were on good terms now.

But a video captured at Sunday’s national thanksgiving service to mark the 25 years of Ghana’s 4th Republic, which is making rounds on social media, paints a rather different picture of the relationship between the two. In the video, former President Mahama is seen standing in front of his seat exchanging greetings with other dignitaries who were attending the programme.

When former President John Agyekum Kufuor got close to Mahama they shook hands and went further to embrace each other amid some broad smiles.

However, it got to the turn of Mr Rawlings to greet Mr Mahama, they exchanged a ‘robotic’ handshake and it looked as if they had never met before or were being forced to greet each other.

The video clearly shows that though Mr Kufuor is from a different political persuasion, Mr Mahama looks quite comfortable being cozy with him rather than the founder of his party and Mr Rawlings himself does not seem to be bothered at all.
