[dropcap]P[/dropcap]resident Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is delivering the 2018 State of the Nation Address before the house of Parliament.

This will be the second since his coming into office following the first which focused majorly on revamping the economy and fixing the ‘mess’ which they claim to have inherited from the previous NDC administration.

President Akufo-Addo in his first SONA got Ghanaians excited with his projection of a more developed, prosperous Ghana under the watch of the NPP administration through the Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs and the One-District-One-Factory policies, as well as the creation of jobs and revamping of the country’s energy sector to resolve the power crisis the country was facing.
One year on and already Ghanaians have begun pointing out the flaws in the performance of the Akufo-Addo administration among which is the fact that 51 factories were promised under the 1-D-1-F project by end of 2017 but not a single one was realized.

The focus of this year’s SONA is expected to be on the education, agriculture, energy and health sectors as he highlights progress made on the new policies introduced in these sectors and reveals newly set targets for the year 2018.

The State of the Nation address is presented by a sitting President annually in fulfilment of Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution that stipulates that: “The President shall, at the beginning of each session of parliament and before the dissolution of parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the state of the nation.”
