Bawumia rubbishes second wife propaganda

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has rubbished the rumour that he has a second wife in addition to Samira Bawumia.

The news of him having a second wife became a big issue when during his second inauguration on January 7, 2021, the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin mistakenly called a certain Ramatu Bawumia as the second lady in his introductory remarks.

Although the speaker’s attention was drawn to the typo on the agenda list he was reading from, some Ghanaians have still taken it as a big deal.

In an official press release from the Office of the Vice President singed by the spokesperson Dr. Gideon Boako, it has categorically rubbished the claim that Bawumia has another wife called Ramatu and edged the public to ignore such propaganda as Bawumia has never met or seen any Ramatu let alone to take her as a wife.

The press release reads;

The attention of the office of the Vice-President has been drawn to stories and pictures circulating of a woman supposedly named “Ramatu’ who is being claimed as a wife of the Vice-President.

The office of the Vice-President wishes to inform the general public that the Vice-President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has never met or seen this purported Ramatu let alone take her as a wife. She is a figment of the imagination of people trying hard to tarnish the image of the Vice-President for their own purposes.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Vice-President has only one wife, his dear Samira Bawumia and they have been married for 17 years even though his religion permits him to marry up to four wives.

We ask the public to ignore the propaganda and deliberate falsehood.

More revelations will definitely fall out as the race for the next Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party gathers momentum and of course Dr. Bawumia heads up as one of the potential presidential candidates for the party against his main contender Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng.
