According to him, some “old men” around the president are his age-mates and must be confident enough to tell him off when he’s going wrong.

Speaking about the issue of vililantism by some groups of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Awuni said the president needs “bold” advisers to be able to govern the country with proactivity.

Some people who are actually his age mates are behaving like messengers to him and I keep saying it and they fight me all the time, we’ve got to stop it.

He went on to suggest that advisory roles should not be based on age, citing the scenario in the USA between President Donald Trump and his son who is below the age of 30 being his adviser.

According to Mr Awuni, who serves as Executive Director of the Centre for Freedom and Accuracy, most advisors to the president simple lack the confidence to put issues to him.
