Visa interview wait-time data gets monthly update from State Department

The U.S. Department of State has updated its global visa wait-time information, giving applicants access to recent data on average nonimmigrant visa interview waits and estimated appointment availability.

The department says its wait-time information is updated monthly and that embassies and consulates release additional appointment slots regularly.

For international students, appointment availability can be an important part of planning travel before a programme begins. The State Department’s student-visa guidance advises applicants to apply early because interview waits vary by location, season and visa category.

The department also cautions that published wait times do not guarantee that an applicant will receive an appointment within a particular period.

Students should use the official State Department information and the website of the embassy or consulate where they intend to apply when planning an interview.
