Lionel Richie recovering after heart procedure, representative says

Lionel Richie is recovering after undergoing a medical procedure for atrial fibrillation, according to a representative for the singer.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Richie underwent the procedure this week after two previous hospitalisations during his current tour with Earth, Wind & Fire. His representative said the procedure went well and that the singer is expected to take some time away from performing before returning to the stage.

Richie had previously been hospitalised in August after experiencing health problems during a concert in St. Louis. He was also treated in June after becoming dizzy during a performance in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The latest development leaves questions about the remaining dates on his tour, including scheduled performances in San Francisco, Chicago and Columbus. It was not immediately clear whether those dates would be rescheduled.

Richie has continued to maintain a major presence in live entertainment, and the update is being closely followed by fans as he takes time to recover.
