Sean Gunn says he is retired from playing Rocket Raccoon in Marvel films

Actor Sean Gunn says he has retired from performing the motion-reference work for Rocket Raccoon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Gunn, who has played Rocket’s on-set motion reference while his brother James Gunn directed the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, discussed the decision during an appearance on Brandon Davis’ “Main Character” video podcast.

Gunn said he considers himself retired from the role and questioned whether he would be able to continue the physically demanding motion-reference work. His comments came ahead of the October 2 release of his new film “Appofeniacs”.

Gunn has also moved into DC-related work through projects connected to his brother, leaving his future involvement with Marvel open to speculation.

For now, Gunn’s comments mark a significant change in one of the more unusual performance roles associated with the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise.
