The Bank of Ghana’s Monetary Policy Committee has maintained the policy rate at 14% for the third consecutive meeting.

The Committee said its decision reflected a broadly balanced outlook for inflation and economic growth, despite global inflationary pressures, higher crude oil prices, geopolitical tensions and supply-chain risks.

Governor Dr Johnson Asiama said headline inflation rose to 5% in August 2026 from 4.6% in July, while core inflation eased slightly.

The MPC also noted resilient economic activity during the first half of the year, with real GDP growth reaching 6% in the second quarter.

The Bank said the outlook remains exposed to both domestic and international risks, including petroleum prices, utility costs, exchange-rate movements and global financial conditions.
