Black Sherif says Ghana’s global music ambitions require collective effort

Ghanaian music star Black Sherif has challenged the idea that one artiste can single-handedly take Ghanaian music to the global stage.

Speaking about the country’s music industry, Black Sherif said international growth should be treated as a collective responsibility involving artistes, managers, businesses, institutions and other industry stakeholders.

The musician said Ghana is making progress in music creation and that parts of the wider music business are gaining momentum. He argued, however, that the country needs a stronger ecosystem that can make music a viable career option for young people.

Black Sherif’s comments come as his own international profile continues to grow, including the recent UK Afrobeats chart performance of his single Jolie.

His latest remarks have renewed discussion about the structures and business systems needed to turn individual artistic success into broader growth for Ghana’s music industry.
