Nigeria’s Federal Government may spend about N2 trillion on electricity subsidies this year while maintaining that there are no immediate plans to raise electricity tariffs. Power Minister Joseph Tegbe said the government wants to build a commercially viable power sector while protecting vulnerable consumers. The figure follows a reported N1.93 trillion subsidy obligation in 2025.
