GES threatens removal of SHS heads over illegal fees

The Ghana Education Service has warned heads of Senior High and Senior High Technical Schools against collecting unauthorised fees and levies from students and parents.

GES said it had received reports of schools collecting admission fees, Parent-Teacher Association dues and other charges. The Service directed school heads to stop the practice and refund unauthorised payments already collected.

According to GES, students and parents should not be required to make unauthorised payments as a condition for admission, enrolment, participation in school activities or access to school services.

The Service said heads who fail to comply could face administrative sanctions, including removal from office.
