IFC MD visits Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, highlights heritage tourism and jobs in Ghana

International Finance Corporation Managing Director Makhtar Diop has visited the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra as part of his visit to Ghana.

The visit highlighted the role of cultural heritage in Ghana’s tourism economy and its connections to hospitality, transport, arts and local businesses.

The park, which commemorates Ghana’s first President and the country’s independence history, has undergone redevelopment with World Bank support. IFC said heritage attractions can help generate visitor spending and opportunities for businesses and communities.

The visit also formed part of a wider discussion about investment in Ghana’s tourism economy, including private-sector hospitality projects supported by IFC.
