Mahama condemns Gaza carnage, backs Palestine and two-state solution

President John Dramani Mahama has called for stronger international action over the conflict in Gaza while reaffirming Ghana’s support for Palestinian statehood and a negotiated two-state solution.

In his address to the 81st UN General Assembly, Mahama said civilians must be protected and humanitarian access maintained. He referred to the humanitarian consequences of the conflict and called for accountability for violations of international humanitarian law.

He also stated that Ghana condemns acts of terrorism by Hamas and said all parties to conflicts must comply with international humanitarian law.

The President further called for consistent international attention to civilian protection and humanitarian access in conflicts beyond Gaza.
