TUC calls for stronger funding and labour representation in TVET system

The Trades Union Congress has called for increased government funding for Technical and Vocational Education and Training to expand skills development and support employment in Ghana.

Speaking at a research validation workshop, the TUC’s Labour Research and Policy Institute said stronger financing was needed to improve training infrastructure, equip institutions and align programmes with labour-market needs.

The union body also called for the restoration of organised labour representation on statutory bodies responsible for education, skills development and employment policy.

The TUC said its research examined trade union participation in Ghana’s TVET system following reforms introduced in 2020.
