Akufo-Addo is an empty persona – NDC’s Ohene Agyekum

A Former Ashanti Regional Minister, Daniel Ohene Agyekum, has offered his candid perspective on President Akufo-Addo’s political image. In his assessment, Agyekum asserts that the President may project a street-smart persona, but he lacks the substance and the grandeur that is often attributed to him.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Ultimate Fm, the seasoned NDC elder points out that time has proven him and other individuals, both within the NPP and the NDC, who expressed doubts about Akufo-Addo’s leadership abilities.

Mr. Agyekum believes that the President’s governance and leadership performance have now laid bare his shortcomings to well-meaning Ghanaians who have the nation’s best interests at heart. He reflects, “Some of us said it, and we were accused of harboring hatred and being overly critical. However, today, the truth is evident. Can you tell me what sets Akufo-Addo apart? He may present himself as street-smart, but, I assure you, there’s little substance. Back in 1992, some of us saw through his facade and recognized that he wasn’t the real deal.”

Agyekum goes on to highlight that even within the NPP, some members had reservations about Akufo-Addo’s leadership potential, but their concerns were dismissed at the time. He questions whether today, conscientious Ghanaians would hold the same opinion. According to him, “This man has presided over a decline in nearly every aspect of this country during his presidency. To label him as smart and a good leader seems far-fetched. Let’s be realistic; the evidence speaks for itself.”
