READ: NPP gurus resisted moves by Nana Akufo-Addo to reinstate Kwabena Agyepong – Ben Ephson

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]ollster and Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, Ben Ephson has revealed that President Akufo-Addo attempted intervening for the suspended New Patriotic Party(NPP) General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong to be reinstated, but was to no avail.

He told Kasapa 102.5 FM that the party was not ready to reverse the course against the embattled party official, notwithstanding the President’s alleged intervention .

“Earlier there have been moves by the President to try and intervene but there have been a lot of internal resistance from gurus from the party; the resistance was so much that he recoiled.”

There have been outpouring of support lately for the suspended General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) in relation to his reinstatement, but Mr. Ephson fears until the former party official remains tactical in his approach he’ll suffer outright rejection by the party.

According to him, further moves by fans to ease the path of embattled Kwabena Agyapong into the NPP will be a mirage following the latter’s belligerent posture.

Pointing to the fierce resistance from hardliners within his party regarding the former’s come back into the NPP, Ephson argued from all indications it’ll be quite difficult to determine future arrangements that will ever favour Agyepong’s reinstatement.

Nana Addo and Kwabena Agyepong

“I thought having been in politics for so long he’s a thick skin, but the way he’s going about things his chances of returning appears grim. Somebody has alleged that you’re Judas Iscariot,it is wrong, but to threaten a lawsuit against somebody, if the person does not pay you about GHS 200,000 before deadline 31st October, and threatening to sue Wontumi, should he also refuse to apologize to you will muddy the waters. Now Wontumi is saying more things and Obiri Boahene has also jumped into the fray, others are also doing same and it’s making considerations of whether you should come back or not very difficult.”

Already, Kwabena Agyepong is demanding an unqualified apology from Chairman Wontumi, asking him to retract a slanderous statement made against his person which is intended to bringing his hard earned reputation into disrepute.

Chairman Wontumi in an interview on Kumasi based Nhyira FM on October 28, 2017 accused Mr Agyepong of betraying the NPP and also having a compromising association with the opposition NDC ahead of the 2016 general elections.

He has a Friday 3rd November, 2017 deadline, to retract and apologize for the defamatory remarks or be sued.

However speaking on Okay FM Wednesday, November 1, Chairman Wontumi called the bluff of Mr Agyepong urging him to proceed to court, adding that he’s not the type of person to be threatened with legal suit.
