We’ve proven to them that we now control one-third of the NPP – Ken Agyapong to NPP
They underestimated us, but we’ve proven to them that we now control one-third of the NPP – Ken Agyapong to NPP
Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, emphasized his significant influence within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating that no major decision can be made without consulting his faction, which he claims constitutes one-third of the party.
Agyapong made these remarks during a “Showdown” Thanksgiving party organized for his supporters and coordinators following the NPP presidential primary. While Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged as the primary winner with 61.47%, Agyapong’s performance, securing 37.41% of the votes, underscored his political influence.
Expressing gratitude to his campaign team, Agyapong highlighted that the primary results proved the underestimation he faced before the elections. He asserted, “They underestimated us, but we’ve proven to them that we now control one-third of the NPP. No major decision will be taken without consulting us.”
Agyapong recounted how even a pastor had doubted his potential, predicting that his performance would not surpass 16%. However, the election results demonstrated a far stronger showing, prompting Agyapong to express his gratitude and well-wishes for the doubting pastor.
The “Showdown” Thanksgiving party, held in Accra, brought together coordinators from all regions in Ghana who supported Agyapong during the NPP presidential primary campaign. The event served as both a celebration of their collective efforts and a demonstration of Agyapong’s continued political relevance within the party.
